My Quirky vices
By Lynda Kohn
My vices Please note by vice I most certainly do not mean any crime, no misdemeanors and definitely no felonies. The Oxford American Dictionary describes a vice as immoral behavior. While I am certainly no linguist expert I think their definition is most decidedly too harsh. To me a vice is a bad habit. That is it is technically a fault. However it isn’t so terrible that one needs to forgiven or for that to do penance. Sometimes it is what I consider a guilty pleasure. What I mean by this it produces some guilt feelings, I don’t mean guilt as in a crime. What I meant by this phrase is its not the mostsophisticated or certainly not of high culture. On the other hand it gives me pleasure. When I use the phrase guilty pleasures I am referring to either books, TV shows or movies. I certainly am not saying every book, TV show or movie is a guilty pleasure. Most can be enjoyed without feelings of inferiority or guilt. In fact the list would probably be numerous to count. My movie guilty pleasures are Abbot and Costello Meets Frankenstein, The Man with Two Brains and Flashdance. A&C Meets Frankenstein because it’s a darn good funny movie. Man with 2 brains is when I’m in mood for a ridiculously silly movie and lastly Flashdance when I’m in a I love the 80s mood. Besides the dancing is truly fantastic. Yes I know that was’t Jennifer Beals doing the dancing. Please note films by technical definition can never be a guilty pleasure. That is because films are defined as quality cinema. A movie is where its perfectly okay to eat popcorn while watching it in a movie theatre, Film is a cinematic experience where its every nuance, fine point is discussed with other cinephile intellectuals. Okay so what are my vices? First one thing. Vices are like backsides. Everybody has one. Well I can truthfully I say I don’t smoke and I don’t drink alcohol excessively. My limit for social drinking is usually two drinks tops. There was an exception some years ago where I drank a dozen different missed drinks in row. It was at a Chippendale type nightclub with a woman friend. In case you are unfamiliar with Chippendales. Its sexy, brawny male strippers. I dug what I saw. Plus l liked the fact that even though I drank twelve mixed drinks I could still dance. Not well though. My usual vice is chocolate. I love the taste of delectable mil, bitter , semi sweet, Dutch, Swiss, Godiva etc chocolate. I must confess what gets me up in the morning is the thought of tasting some delectable chocolate. Its my perfect way of getting up. Its something to look forward to. For breakfast ont weekdays I put my high fiber cereal in slightly melted chocolate flavored frozen yogurt, My favorite flavors are chocolate mint, chocolate chip, Moose Tracks, Chocolate Fudge, French Silk. I don’t want to give the brand names since I am unclear of Qondio’s policies on doing so. This may be an unusual way to start the day but hey it works for me.

Please excuse me if I offended you I confess to me, the thought of chocolate is heavenly
Don't feel guilty about your "pleasures" dear, they are not half as bad as mine.
Oh No! You did NOT offend me. It was just a funny comment...
Thank you for sharing this entertaining intel on your vices, Lynda. I believe that you are right, everybody has One! or Two! or Three! or More!! If a little chocolate starts your day with a smile, that's wonderful! I believe that too many people skip breakfast, and that is their first mistake, for that day!! Best to you. Frederick
