Mistakes Everybody makes them.

By Lynda Appell

My late hubby Jerry was constantly thinking of unofficial universal clubs. That is clubs that everybody in the entire world, with absolutely no exceptions belonged. The first one was the birthday suit club. The requirements were wearing your birthday suit under your clothes and exposing it in the bathtub, shower, skinny dipping and clothing optional places that some nudists frequent. It is a club with rather easy requirements.

There were quite a bit more universal groups too. However I think the one most relevant to mistake week is his MMA. Mistake Makers Assn. Maybe I'm mistaken about this. I strongly suspect everyone is a member in good standing. Some are members more so than others.

Making mistakes, errors, goofs, etc are part of being human. What helps is if one learns from them. From going to a restaurant, or a movie, TV show you didn't like to driving in the wrong direction, to doing a miscalculation, mistakes arn't so bad if your experience can be seen as a learning experience.

Of course there are major mistakes that can lead to serious harm. For example my aunt was told her itchy skin was just a skin rash. That dr. made a terrible mistake. My aunt went to a different MD for a second opinion. That physician gave her the correct diagnosis of T cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. T Cell is very difficult to treat. My aunt passed away a few years ago from the disorder. Perhaps her life could have been prolonged if the first doctor was correct in his diagnosis.

On a much lighter note I made some mistakes in my life. Some of them because of my ADD and not being attentive enough to detail. Fortunately they weren't harmful. One goof I made was when I was a little girl of about six, my year older sister and I with a group of age contemporary pals decided to explore an abandoned home. At least we thought it was so. Well we found out it wasn't when we entered the bedroom and saw the couple, a man and woman in bed together. Wow, I still remember their furious expressions and yelling at us. I think we learned some cuss words that day. On the other hand I could be mistaken. Well I learned never to presume any building is unoccupied unless absolutely certain. One thing good concerning mistakes is you can learn from them.
