Abramoff . My kind of Jew...NOT According to www.truthout.org Jack Abramoff not only defeated an anti gambling bill but got Conservative Christians such as Ralph Reed, former head of the Christian Coalition, and the Rev. Louis P. Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition to politically and most likely financially support him . In this case in support of his lobbying against the anti gambling bill. Both kept in close contact with Abramoff about the arrangement, e-mails reveail. Abramoff went after major anti-tax conservative Grover Norquist, arranging to route some of eLottery's money for Reed through Norquist's group, Americans for Tax Reform. It isn't just the fact Jack Abramoff is a super lobbyist. There's nothing inherently wrong in being a lobbyist. Most special interest groups have lobbyists working for them. On a personal note I am involved with a local disability support group. I'm sure we have people lobbying our local govt. The issue with Abramoff to me, and many others is while he may be corrupt. He is most definitely racist. His attitude was he was to lobbey for the pro gambling bill no matter how much the consevative Christians didn't like it. I find this at least ironic, since Abramoff is politically conservative. Oh wait a minute. Maybe I should't be so surprised. Abramoff strikes me as a man who uses labels, people as most of us use a tissue. You use it, then discard it. This is what he seems to have done with Native Americans with their gambling casinos. He played one tribe against the other and played both for suckers. For example he urged the Tigua tribe to pay the US congress 4.2 million dollars to get them to reopen their casino. He also stole millions of dollars from American Indians and used it to open up a Deli. Source Richard Silverstein for above paragraph. He also used a "charity" which was officially promoting sports for kids to finance a trip to Scotland. Used the National Center for Public Policy to pay for his trip. It costs almost $60,000 dollars. He even cheated teachers from an Orthodox Jewish school thirteen teachers a quarter of their pay when the Eshkol Academy, an Orthodox Jewish school in Columbia, MD. What kind of Orthodox Jew is he. Seems to me one who thinks only of himself, his needs. Everyone else can just screw it. Including his own people. True followers of Orthodox Judaism are definitely not like Jack Abramoff. In fact I would think Orthodox Rabbis would condemn him and rightly so. Hoping most people have the good sense to realise Jack Abramoff does not represent most Orthodox Jews or for that matter Jewish people. Yet there is also realization there are hopefully a miniscule percentage of people in the US, the world who believe he is typical of his ethnicity. This doesn't mean no one should criticise the many wrongs and most likely criminal acts he's committed. What I am indicating one shouldn't generalise. I'm certain in fact I predict antisemitic, Judeophobic, racist, NeoNazi, Skinhead groups are having a field day with the Jack Abramoff scandle. They conveniently ignore the vast majority of Jews who are peaceful, ethical, law abiding people. The fact is in practically every ethnic group there are nefarious people. This doesn't prove every person in the group behaves with such iniquity. Well what can you do? They do have a right to see the world in what ever way they like. I also have the right to say it's wrong to condemn a whole people for a few no matter what the group is, be it a religion, race, political group, whatever.
