Don't Presume Every Facebook Page is Real
By Lynda Kohn
The computer can be basically provided into two components. Hardware and software. The computer, drivers, modem, printer etc ar are hardware. The internet and its many programs are software. Thanks to one software, browsers one can browse the net. One extremely popular site is Facebook. It is one of the social networking sites. There are others such as Myspace, Tagged, Hi5, Orkut and many others. However Facebook is by far the most popular. In fact its one of the most favored web sites on the internet. Its Alexa rating is two. The lower the number the more people it draws. Only Google gets more hits, more visitors. Its Alexa rating is One. Alexa's url is http://www.alexa.com I learned things are not invariably initially what they seem. One case in point is written below. This really happened to me. Every thing that happened is true. I can show proof. It is in my messages in Facebook. They are there in case anyone wants to read the two messages and how I responded. I am an associate administrator of one of Joaquin Phoenix's fan clubs on FB. One of my women friends runs the fan site. There is no participation by Phoenix. I don't even know if he knows of it. Of course if by some extremely rare occurrence he's know. She designated me to the position mentioned just previously. So when I read of the threat to close down her group I became incensed. This wasn't just concerning me. It was regarding a good woman friend who definitely deserve to be treated like this. She runs a Joaquin Phoenix fan group on the social network mentioned previously. I copied and pasted verbatim several messages and my response. There is no need to be concerned I violated anybody's privacy. Not only from the original FB message page. I don't believe I violated anyone's privacy since whoever the fake J. Phoenix was he left Facebook. The woman who I refer to as Joaquin Phonyx is not on there too. For the record she called herself Mia Fowler. No idea who she is. What her real name or if she ever existed. May be a woman by that name but this isn't her. I had always liked the actor. I thought quite highly of his looks, his build and of course his acting. Especially as Johnny Cash in the film "Walk the Line" director James Mangold. Leonard Creditor in "Two Lovers" directed by James Gray. To get these emails made me feel very upset. So much so that I was letting my feelings control what to think. In retrospect I should of realize the movie star wouldn't of written a message with such poor grammar, typos, spelling errors. I don't count the letter and number abbreviations as mistakes. Example u for you 2 for to. I read in several reliable sources he and his siblings were home schooled. I could be wrong on the following notion. I would think what ever parent taught their children would them proper grammar. I remember exactly what I read in my email. "You received a message from Joaquin Phoenix. I was super excited until I read it. Then I quickly became terribly upset. I was bewildered. I wondered what I did that was so wrong. I thought it was him and he was being horrifically unfair, unreasonable toward me. Below is the email verbatim. " What gives u the right to put my private life out there especially my lady. She very upset how u just put her name out there. She is a very private person when it come 2 our life. That includes my firends also. I don't appreicate what have u done.. I will ask for u not 2 be into other people personal life and not 2 spread rumors around also.. I will have my lawyers after u and tell me what fansite u have admin 2, I will find out have it shut down. I don't need to kinf od nosey fan getting into my personal business... U understand me.. " Below is my response. " I said I learned my lesson and I meant it. I made a mistake. I know what I did was wrong and I am sorry. Please don't shut the fan site down. The woman who runs it is a real and sincere fan of yours. BTW its not me who runs it. Yes I understand you. Are you understanding me? I made a mistake. I admitted I made one. Please forgive me. When did I spread rumors regarding you? BTW its what you did or have done not what you done. Why arn't you after the man who originally congratulated you on your engagement. He's the one who first to use the cliche , spilled the beans. Why not go after him, Joaquin?" Then I discovered a reply in my Facebook messages. You can read it here. " You haven't learned your lesson, I will shut down the fansite. At this moment I want you too take my name off of your fb page.. You hear me I have already reported you to fb security and My lawyers will handling this as well What did I tell u please stop making trouble and I have the my lawyers go after you and leave My lady alone you hear me I will have fb shut ur fb book down" My "crime" was to type "You and Mia Fowler make a sexy couple. So "he's" complaining about me mentioning her name when "he" mentioned her first. "His" complaint is absolutely ludicrous. Even if it was the Golden Globe winner actor I don't see how mentioning a girlfriend's name is so horrific. Its like I wrote anything malicious. Please explain to me how my complimentary statement was getting into anybody's business. "Dear Joaquin: If you were really serious instead of threatening me with a lawyer you would of emailed me an email from your attorney to begin with. How do I know this? Well this is what my lawyer told me. I dare you to show me on your site what I did that was disturbing to you. Hmmm freedom of expression. Lets see. Oh that's right its in the US Constitution. I think Bill of Rights. BTW your spelling(typos?), grammar is horrible. Especially for somebody whose been living in the states for a good 30 years You seem like a semi illiterate." Sincerely XXXXXXXXX I phoned the movie actor's publicist. I asked is he on Facebook. She nicely told me he never was on Facebook. The bottom line as I see is don't believe everything you read. That goes for much more than this social networking site. Don't presume the "celebrities pages" on Facebook are real. From this experience I think I realize now that none of the celeb pages on there are real. If anybody knows otherwise let me know. PS I realize there are typos. However I copied and pasted "His" emails verbatim. |
